The four stage filtration system uses a prefilter cartridge to remove dirt, sediment, and other particulate matter more than 1 micron in diameter. Then a Micro-Fine 1 (1 micron) solid block filter cartridge filters the water in three stages. First, it micro filters the water to about 1 micron, filtering out nearly all super fine particulate matter. Secondly, it absorbs nearly all chemical contaminates into the filter media. Lastly, it contains a positive charge which further cleans the water by collecting negatively charged contaminants. The prefilter cartridge and filter cartridge are housed in separate, durable canisters that are connected by copper pipe fittings and an integrated bypass valve. The unit connects to the main household water supply line (somewhere near the place where the water enters the home).

The Micro-fine 1 solid block cartridge offers the highest absorption capacity of any filter having similar dimensions (4.25 inches O.D. x 20.0 inches L.). It provides comprehensive removal of chlorine, organic and volatile organic chemical contaminants, and very fine particulate matter. The filter will not permit water to channel or bypass due to the extreme uniformity of its solid block core. According to independent laboratory tests, the cartridge removes 99% of chlorine for over 40,000 gallons and still removes over 90% of chlorine after 150,000 gallons. This is at 6 ppm of chlorine. Tap water is usually about 1 ppm of chlorine. The filters may actually last up to 6 times longer than the number of gallons shown in the test. (see later in this page for test results and technical analyses of the cartridge.) The average time between filter changes for an average family with average water is 2 years. Three years for two people. Replacement cartridges are available from your dealer.
